Five Facts To Know
--The Spartans scored their first season-opening victory since 2015 on Tuesday evening, defeating North Carolina A&T by a final of 74-66. The win snapped the Aggies’ 13-game winning streak at the Corbett Sports Center.

--Speaking of home winning streaks, the Spartans will be facing an LSU squad that has not lost on its own court in its last eight contests.

--UNCG head coach Wes Miller and LSU head coach Will Wade will oppose each other for the fifth time in their respective careers. Wade was the head coach at Southern Conference foe Chattanooga for two seasons (2013-15).

--After making two three pointers in the Spartans’ victory over North Carolina A&T earlier this week, senior guard Francis Alonso became the sixth player in SoCon history to make 300 career three pointers. Alonso needs to make just 10 more three pointers to surpass Scott Hartzell for the most in program history.

--Through Wednesday night’s action, forward James Dickey is tied for the national lead in blocks (seven) along with Western Illinois’ Brandon Gilbeck.

The Spartans In 2018
UNCG opened the season in thrilling fashion against fellow Greensboro school North Carolina A&T, as the Spartans overcame a one-point halftime deficit to score a 74-66 victory. In the second half, the Spartans showcased their patented aggressive defense to slow the Aggies before securing an eight-point.

Offensively, UNCG was led by Alonso who dropped a game-high 23 points while fellow guards Isaiah Miller and Kaleb Hunter, meanwhile, combined for 27 points off the bench. Miller had numerous highlight dunks in the second half, including one that received national attention.

Dickey also filled up the stat sheet as he grabbed 10 rebounds with seven points and seven blocks.
