SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNC Greensboro women’s soccer’s Heida Ragney Vidarsdottir has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held October 31-November 6, the league office announced Wednesday.

Ragney Vidarsdottir helped the Spartans win the SoCon Tournament for the ninth time in program history this weekend, defeating No. 3 seed ETSU 5-1 in the semifinals and No. 5 Furman 2-1 in the championship game. UNCG repeated as tournament champs for the third time in program history, something no other current SoCon school has done. Ragney Vidarsdottir was named the tournament’s most outstanding player. Playing primarily as a defensive midfielder, she assisted on the first goal against the Paladins and helped UNCG limit both opponents to just one goal each.

Majoring in Sociology with a minor in Women's and Gender Studies, Ragney Vidarsdottir holds a 3.77 grade point average.

UNCG opens the NCAA Tournament Friday at 6 p.m. at No. 3 seed South Carolina.
