All-America candidate who looks to defend his SoCon Player of the Year honor... has an 85-inch wingspan (7-feet 1-inch)... returns for senior season needing just 55 points to become UNCG’s all-time leading scorer... already holds UNCG career records for blocked shots and field goals... could become one of less than 100 players in college basketball history to record 2,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds... has a streak of 50 consecutive games scoring in double figures, which will be the longest in the nation to start the season... the 50 consecutive game streak crushed Ricky Hickman’s school record of 27 set in 2005-06... during the streak, Hines has extended the run before halftime 25 times... has also scored 20 or more points 24 times and 15 or more in all but three of the games during the streak... just once - against UNC Wilmington – has Hines gone into the final two minutes of a game and not already extended the streak... named to CollegeHoops.net’s Pre-season Mid-Major All-American first team... has now scored in double figures in 82 of 89 career contests and has gone for 20 or more points 32 times... 31 career double-doubles are the most among active players nationally (Division I) and a school record (has had 10 or more double-doubles in each of his three seasons)... he enters his senior season ranked in the Top 10 on the following career lists: scoring (second - 55 points shy of the record), rebounding (third), field goals (first), field goal attempts (fifth), field goal percentage (fourth), free throws (sixth), free throw attempts (third), steals (seventh), blocks (first), double-doubles (first)... only player in school history to record 500 points in consecutive seasons and first to record 400 points in three consecutive seasons (then-teammate Ricky Hickman joined that list later in the year)...only active player with 1,000 career points, 500 career rebounds, 200 career blocks and 100 career steals and did it faster than anyone else in the last 10 seasons (did it in 67 games and previous fastest was 98 among the 19 that had done it); no UNCG player had ever recorded the combination of 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 100 steals – let alone the 200 blocks... out of a possible nine SoCon Player of the Month awards in his career, he has earned four of them... has at least one blocked shot in 83 of 89 career games... in his career, he is averaging 18.0 ppg against SoCon regular season competition and 17.8 ppg in non-conference/conference tournament games.

Junior Season (2006-07)

2006-07 Southern Conference Player of the Year - the first Conference Player of the Year honor in school history... named to the Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention (15 players are named to the first three teams, while 50 make Honorable Mention) - the first player in school history to receive the honor... named to three MidMajor All-American squads (CNN-SI, CollegeInsider.com and CollegeHoops.net)... UNCG’s leading scorer at 20.9 ppg (no Spartan had averaged better than 20 points per game in the Division I era – last was Marvin Dawson in 1990-91)... led the conference in scoring for the first 100 days of the season, beginning with his 38-point effort in an overtime loss at Marshall in the season-opener (most points by a UNCG player since 1986), losing the lead on February 20th... finished the season ranked No. 14 in the nation in scoring, No. 42 in field goal percentage, No. 33 in rebounds and No. 28 in blocked shots... second in the SoCon in scoring and first in rebounding and blocks; was also sixth in field goal percentage (55.5%)... earned his third straight All-SoCon honor from the media and the coaches... recorded 14 20-point games in the 2006-07 season... first player in school history (40 seasons) to score 30 or more points on five occasions in the same season... was featured in October issue of Basketball TImes as one of five "Under the Radar" players nationally... had 10 double-doubles on the season, second in the SoCon and tied for first all-time at UNCG, to extend his career record to 31... his 605 points for the season is a single-season record for a junior, sits second all-time and broke the Division I-era record that he set in the 2005-06 season... he also ranked on the single-season lists in fi eld goals made (third), field goal attempts (third), free throws (second), free throw attempts (first), rebounds (fourth), blocks (fourth) and double-doubles (second)... set a school-record with five 30-point games during the season... according to Midmajority.com, he ranked 10th in the nation (out of 1,837 qualifying players) in player efficiency (an NBA stat similar to that of a quarterback passer rating in football, taking into account all of a player’s positive stats versus missed shots and turnovers)... became the first player in school history to score 500 points in two seasons (2005-06, 2006-07)... became the second player to record three 400-point seasons (joining Jay Joseph), and the first to do it consecutively (Ricky Hickman later joined him when he did it consecutively, as well)... averaged 19.6 ppg in SoCon contests and shot 58.3 percent from the floor despite constant double-teams; even drew a consistent double-team at Duke, going up against 6-10 Josh McRoberts and 7-2 Brian Zoubek... earned Southern Conference Player of the Month in both December and January, giving him four Player of the Month honors in his career out of a possible nine; it was also the third consecutive year that Hines earned SoCon Player of the Month in January (when conference play kicks into high gear); averaged 22.4 ppg and 11.8 rpg in December and 21.8 ppg and 8.7 rpg in January, shooting 55.3 percent in December and 57.3 percent in January... also earned SoCon Player of the Week honors once (Jan. 23)... has led UNCG in scoring in 46 of 89 career games... has recorded at least one blocked shot in 83 of 89 career games, including 18 games with five or more blocks... set a school record with a streak of 37 consecutive games with at least one block (snapped at Penn State in November of the 2006-07 season)... his 254 career blocks rank third in SoCon history... attempted fewer than 10 field goals only twice all season – and went 6-for-9 from the floor on both of those occasions... became the first player since Chattanooga’s Keith Nelson (1990-91, 1991-92) to lead the league in rebounding in consecutive seasons (only ninth to do so since 1953-54).

Sophomore Season (2005-06)

USBWA All-District selection... earned first-team all-conference honors from the media and all-conference honors from the coaches... started 30 of UNCG’s 31 games (DNP season-opener against UW-Green Bay)... his 578 points were the most by a player in a season during UNCG’s Division I era and the second-highest in school history (most by a sophomore in school history)...his 19.3 ppg average was best on the team and second in the SoCon (No. 38 in the nation); it was also the fourth-highest single-season scoring average in school-history (tops in Division I era)... he led the conference in rebounding (No. 64 nationally) and blocks (No. 17 nationally)... ranked No. 2 in the SoCon in field goal percentage (No. 6 nationally -- SoCon uses lower minimums than the national standard); narrowly missed becoming the first player since 1977 (third all-time) to lead the conference in field goal percentage in consecutive seasons (would have been the first to lead as a freshman and sophomore)... he also ranked in the Top 10 in the SoCon in steals (seventh) and minutes per game (fifth)... his 239 field goals were the second highest in school history and most by a Spartan in the Division I era... his 62.2 percent shooting from the field was the seventh best mark in school history (min. 100 attempts)... led the Southern Conference in double-doubles with 12, which was also a school record... became the fifth player in school history to record 500 points in a season and with Hickman became the first duo to record 500 points in the same season... had 13 20-point games during the season... recorded 20 points and five rebounds against top-ranked Duke on December 31... shot 69.5 percent from the floor against SoCon teams during the conference regular season.

Freshman Season (2004-05)

Southern Conference Freshman of the Year... set a SoCon record and school record with 106 blocked shots during the season (SoCon: 101, Rans Brempong of Western Carolina)... started all 30 games during the season, averaging 13.6 ppg and a team-high 8.6 rpg... shot 62.1% from the field during the regular season, which led the SoCon and ranked seventh nationally... his 3.5 blocks per game led the SoCon and was fourth nationally... his 8.6 rpg also ranked in the Top 50 in the nation... averaged a team-best 14.8 ppg against SoCon competition during the regular season and shot 64.5% from the field in league play... had 11 double-doubles during the season to lead the SoCon... scored in double figures in 24 of 30 games during the season (most on the team) and also had six 20-point games... ranked ninth in the SoCon in scoring, third in rebounding, first in field goal percentage, first in blocked shots, third in offensive rebounds, fourth in defensive rebounds and third in minutes played (only Davidson’s Brendan Winters and ETSU’s Tim Smith played more minutes than Hines)... second on the team in dunks with 18... recorded a double-double in each of his first two collegiate games (never done before at UNCG)... had 21 points and 11 rebounds against Montreat in first college game... tied a school record twice with seven blocked shots in a game... had at least one blocked shot in each of his first 21 games and finished with at least one in 28 of 30... recorded five or more blocked shots in a game 11 times during his rookie campaign... began the season scoring in double digits in 11 of his first 13 games, with only Duke and Wisconsin holding him under 10 points... tied a school record with 19 rebounds in loss at Elon (January 31)... set a Fleming Gymnasium record when he pulled 18 rebounds against Georgia Southern (February 8)... was selected the Southern Conference’s Player of the Month in January when he averaged 16.3 ppg, 9.1 rpg and recorded 31 blocks and shot 67.4% from the field in nine games... scored a season-high 24 points to go with 14 rebounds in UNCG’s come-from-behind win over Chattanooga on January 29... had 20 points and 12 rebounds, including two crucial free throws in the final seconds, in UNCG’s regular-season finale win at Western Carolina (February 26)... his 259 rebounds shattered the UNCG freshman rebounding record (previously held by Jay Joseph with 152) and were just 25 shy of the UNCG single-season rebound record... fell five points shy of Jay Joseph’s freshman scoring record... putting Hines’ 106 blocked shots into perspective, prior to the season, only four players in UNCG’s Division I era had recorded 70 or more blocks in their entire careers; in addition, Hines broke the UNCG single season record in just 19 games... was named Dick Vitale’s ESPN.com Diaper Dandy of the Week at one point during the season... his 175 field goals were a UNCG freshman record and ranked third on the UNCG single-season list... his 62.1% field goal shooting ranked third-best at UNCG for a single season.

Prior to UNCG

Averaged 23.5 points per game as a senior at Timber Creek under head coach Gary Saunders... earned first-team All-South Jersey and second-team all-state honors... named NJ Hoops First-Team All-Camden County, NJ Hoops All-Rebounder Team, NJ Hoops Best Post Player Team and NJ Hoops Second-Team Top Dunkers... named Best Rebounder and Top 20 All-Star at the summer Five Star Camp... rated one of the Top 15 seniors in the Delaware Valley... earned first-team All-South Jersey honors as a junior after averaging 20.6 points per game... named MVP of the Philly USA All-Star Classic as a junior... earned Top-20 All-Star status at Five Star Camp following his junior season... put up 15.3 points per game as a sophomore en route to earning second-team All-South Jersey honors.
