WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – UNC Greensboro women’s basketball fought throughout the night in a competitive contest against Wake Forest and the result was a victory for the Spartans over the Demon Deacons. As the final buzzer sounded, UNCG had claimed a 69-67 victory over Wake Forest for the program’s first win against the Demon Deacons since the 2005-06 season.
The Spartans and Demon Deacons engaged in a competitive first half, as the two teams exchanged the lead six times. While Wake Forest would lead by as much as six in the second quarter, UNCG still found ways to tie it up.
Over a 1:17 span late in the second quarter, senior guard Nadine Soliman scored seven-straight UNCG points to give the Spartans a one-point lead before Wake Forest went into the break up two points.
In the third quarter, UNCG led by as much as six before heading into the final frame down one. But UNCG would still find a way to come back, taking the lead for good with 1:16 remaining. The Spartans would lead by as much as five in the waning seconds before scoring the two-point victory.

--This marked the 33rdtime in her career that Soliman has scored at least 20 points in a contest during her UNCG career.
--Senior Te’ja Twitty inched closer to the 1,000-point mark, as she finished the game with 11 points. She needs just 12 more points to become the 26thSpartan to reach 1,000 career points.
--With the victory, UNCG has now evened the series with Wake Forest at seven victories apiece.
