GREENSBORO, N.C. – Hosting the team’s annual fall tournament, UNC Greensboro men’s golf on Sunday collected a 584 (288-296) in the first two rounds of the Grandover Collegiate and is currently in first place by two strokes over Rutgers.
The third and final round will take place tomorrow and live stats will be available on Golfstat.com.
Junior Nick Lyerly (69-73) currently leads the Spartans in play, as he is two-under par through the first two rounds. During the opening front-nine to begin the morning, Lyerly collected a five-under 31 before finishing the first round at three-under 69. In the second round, he was one-over 73.
Senior Jonathan Brightwell (72-73), meanwhile, is in a tie for eighth place. In the first round, the Charlotte native collected three birdies against three bogeys.
Junior Zack Swanson (73-74) completed the first round at one-over 73 before capping off the day at two-over 74 in the second round. He is currently in 14thplace.
Junior Justin Emmons (74-76) began the day at two-over 74 in the first round. In the second round, the Climax, N.C., native carded a four-over 76 as he sits in six-way tie for 19thplace.
Freshman Symon Balbin (78-76) rounds out team play for the Spartans so far, as he is tied for 39thplace at 10-over par.
The Spartans have six players participating as individuals in the tournament, led by freshman Jack Marcotte (77-72) who is tied for 16thplace.
Senior Michael Wicker (76-77) is amongst a group of players tied for 36thplace as he makes his season debut in the tournament.
