GREENSBORO, N.C. - It will be a battle of the unbeaten's this Tuesday, as UNCG men's soccer travels to Furman for a 7 p.m. matchup. The Spartans have opened their Southern Conference season on a three-match winning streak, while the Paladins have won both of their SoCon contests.

• UNCG is 20-17-4 against the Paladins all-time, despite losing the pair's most recent matchup 3-0, in the 2018 Southern Conference tournament final

• The Spartans 3-0-0 start to conference play is their best since 2005, when the side started the SoCon season with five straight victories and went on to the third round of the NCAA Championship tournament


• UNCG's nine goals in SoCon play are a conference-high, while the team's 0.33 goals surrendered per match sits second only to Furman

• Defender Casey Penland scored a brace against Wofford on Saturday night to move into a tie with Albert Pedra and Micah Albert for a team-high in goals, they each have five tallies on the year

• Freshman Brendan Pulley delivered a clean sheet against the Terriers for his fourth win of the season, he holds a 0.33 goals against average and a .875 save percentage against conference foes this year

• Junior Payne McKiver is currently on a two-match point streak, scoring the first goal of his career against Belmont, and delivering an assist against Wofford

• UNCG has outscored opponents 10-3 since the start of the month, posting a record of 3-1-1


• Furman's 16 shots and 7.79 shots on goal per match rank 12th and fourth in the country respectively

• 10 Paladins have received yellow cards on the year, their combined 37 yellows trail only USC Upstate (39) for the most in Division I men's soccer


The Spartans face their final road contest of the season with a Saturday kickoff at ETSU. UNCG is 4-6-5 against the Bucs all-time, working to a scoreless draw against the side in their last meeting, on October 13, 2018
