GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro volleyball will compete in its final non-conference action of the 2019 season when the Spartans face Elon, Lehigh and Virginia in the Jefferson Cup on Friday, Sept. 20 and Saturday, Sept. 21.

Five Facts To Know

-- Through Wednesday's action, UNCG (six) has the most wins of any team set to compete in the Jefferson Cup  

-- This is the second straight weekend in which the Spartans have competed in Virginia, as they appeared in the Colonial Classic last Friday and Saturday 

-- Junior Maria Esch leads the Spartans in kills (128)

-- Freshman Gabriela McHugh leads the SoCon in total assists (419), as she is the only player in the conference to reach the 400-assist mark on the year

-- McHugh was recently named SoCon Setter of the Week after UNCG finished in second place at the Spartan-Demon Deacon Classic to open the season 

Series History
-- UNCG leads the all-time series against Elon 27-16 

-- This will be the second all-time meeting with Lehigh, with the other match taking place on Sept. 16, 1994

-- This will also be the second all-time meeting with Virginia, with the other match taking place on Sept. 6, 1996 

Upcoming For The Spartans

UNCG will turn its attention to the Southern Conference slate as the Spartans will host Western Carolina on Friday, Sept. 27.  

50 Years of UNCG Volleyball

The 2019 season will be a special one for the program, as UNCG volleyball is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The program will be hosting a special celebration during the weekend of Friday, Oct. 18 and Saturday, Oct. 19. The weekend will include an alumni vs. alumni match, a program history celebration luncheon and recognition of several distinguished alumni from the program’s past.
