GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG volleyball will head north for the weekend, as the Spartans will face William & Mary, Georgetown and Iona in the Colonial Classic this Friday and Saturday.

Five Facts To Know

-- The Spartans in their last tournament went a perfect 3-0, sweeping Southern, Incarnate Word and UT-Arlington in the Maverick Classic last weekend. UNCG won the opening match against Southern 3-0 before defeating Incarnate Word and UT-Arlington 3-1 and 3-2 respectively

-- Through Tuesday night's action, freshman setter Gabriela McHugh leads the Southern Conference in assists with 274

-- Senior Holly Behrends has been impressive to start her final collegiate season, as she earned Maverick Classic MVP honors. She is currently fourth in the SoCon in average kills per set

-- Senior Grace Howell currently leads the team in digs with 94

-- If UNCG is able to sweep through the Colonial Classic, it would mark the first time over the last seven seasons that UNCG will have gone undefeated in two different in-season tournaments

UNCG will return to Fleming Gymnasium for a home match against High Point on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

50 Years of UNCG Volleyball

The 2019 season will be a special one for the program, as UNCG volleyball is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The program will be hosting a special celebration during the weekend of Friday, Oct. 18 and Saturday, Oct. 19. The weekend will include an alumni vs. alumni match, a program history celebration luncheon and recognition of several distinguished alumni from the program’s past.
