Both Brightwell and Lyerly finished the first round at five-over 75 and completed the day tied for 147th place in the 312-man field. Brightwell bogeyed six times on the day while recording one birdie on Hole 15.
Lyerly, meanwhile, recorded two double-bogeys, two bogeys and one birdie during the first 18 holes of action.
Lyerly jumped into the top-100 after the second round after carding an even-70 during Tuesday's play. The junior started the day even-par through the first six holes before a bogey on No. 7 and then a birdie on No. 9. During the back-nine of play, The Salisbury, N.C., native birdied twice and bogeyed twice.
As for Brightwell, he finished the day four-over 74. He began the morning with a birdie on No. 1. and completed the front-nine at one-under 34. On the back-nine, however, the Charlotte native was five-over 40.
