GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro women’s basketball embarks on a foreign tour and travels to six cities in Italy from August 5-14. The 10-day, eight-night trip will feature stops in Rome, Florence, Bologna, Venice, Como and Milan where the Spartans will play three games against teams from across the globe.
The Spartans depart Greensboro Monday, Aug. 5 and spend three days in Rome with guided tours of the Colosseum, Vatican Museum, St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. UNCG’s first game is against the University of Ottawa Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 12: 30 p.m. ET.
UNCG arrives in Florence late in the day on Aug. 8, and the team explores the Accademia Gallery, Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio and Cathedral. The second game of the trip occurs on the next day at 1 p.m. ET against the Slammers Select.
The Spartans make a stop in Bologna for a food and wine tasting on Aug. 10 on their way to Venice for two days. The travel contingent will tour the city, transferring by boats from Tronchetto Marina along the Grand Canal to the Piazza San Marco Square.
On Monday, Aug. 12, UNCG will take a sightseeing tour of Lake Como with lunch at the Bellagio before heading to Milan. The next day the Spartans tour Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” and then play TK Hannover (Germany) at noon ET for their final game.
The team flies out of Milan on Wednesday, Aug. 14 and arrive back on campus late at night.
