PINEHURST, N.C. –UNC Greensboro men’s golf starting Sunday will participate in the 2019 Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship at Pinehurst No. 9. The tournament will span over three days with the third and final round taking place on Tuesday, as the Spartans look to successfully defend last year’s conference tournament victory.

A Glance At The Squad

For only the second time in program history, UNCG has won three tournaments including their most recent outing in the Irish Creek Intercollegiate. During the tournament, UNCG was led by senior Bryce Hendrix during a record-breaking performance in which he finished 20-under.

Earlier this year the Spartans won the UNCG Grandover Collegiate and the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate as well.

UNCG this year has been led by junior Jonathan Brightwell, as he’s currently second in stroke average (71.57) in the SoCon. Brightwell has finished in the top 10 in four different tournaments to date. Additionally, Hendrix and sophomore Nick Lyerly also rank in the top five in the conference in stroke average.

Along with Brightwell, Hendrix and Lyerly, the Spartans will also be represented in Pinehurst by junior Grant Powell and sophomore Zack Swanson

UNCG Will Be Joined By…

UNCG will be joined during the tournament by ETSU, Furman, Mercer, Samford, Chattanooga, Western Carolina and Wofford.
