GREENSBORO, Ga. – UNC Greensboro men’s golf (282-290-289) on Sunday completed a top five finish at the Linger Longer Invitational, as the Spartans ended the tournament at three-under 859. UNCG finished behind four schools ranked in the top 25 including the tournament’s victor, No. 15 Georgia.
Additionally, UNCG finished ahead of No. 13 Tennessee along with fellow Southern Conference school Mercer.
Junior Jonathan Brightwell (71-72-70) finished the tournament in 12th place after he carded a two-under 70 on Sunday. Brightwell recorded a team-high seven birdies on Sunday.
Senior Bryce Hendrix (68-74-73) completed the third round at one-over 73 on Sunday and finished tied for 15th place. Hendrix birdied three times on the day along with tallying an eagle on Hole 18.
Sophomore Nick Lyerly (69-74-74) and Zack Swanson (74-71-72) were two of four golfers that finished the tournament tied for 26th place. Lyerly finished Sunday’s round at two-over 74 while Swanson finished at even-par as he was over-par just once in the third round.
Junior Grant Powell (74-73-77) recorded a five-over 77 on Sunday to end the tournament in a tie for 54th place.
In individual play, junior Ben Buben (77-78-79) finished tied for 79th place.
The Spartans will return to the court next weekend when the participate in the Tarheel Intercollegiate, taking place March 23-24 at Finley Golf Club in Chapel Hill, N.C.
