GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women’s tennis team dropped a tightly-contested match to Southern Conference foe Wofford, 4-3, on Saturday, March 16 at the UNCG Tennis Courts.

Wofford (9-4) opened the match by prevailing with a 6-1 victory in doubles as the duo of Lilie Steryous / Liz Massie downed Emily Ory and Tayah Cross. Teammates Cassidy Hicks / Jenna Vroman quickly followed with a 6-1 win of their own against the tandem of Nancy Bridges / Erika Barquero.

UNCG ended doubles play on a positive note as Sophia Adams / Eugenia Camacho emerged with a 6-1 victory against Kay Kluska / Brittney Wilbur.

Barquero rebounded from her doubles setback to claim a singles victory against Steryous by margins of 6-3, 6-1. Wofford regained the lead, 2-1, by virtue of a Wilbur win against Ory by scores of 6-1, 6-4.

Vroman extended the Terrier lead to two points as she came through with a 6-3, 6-1 victory against Bridges. Hildell clinched the match for Wofford with a pair of 6-2 wins over Cross.

UNCG rebounded to take the final two wins of the match, the first coming when Camacho posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over Kluska. Adams followed with a 5-7, 6-4, 10-1 triumph over Hicks in the clash of No. 2 seeds.

The Spartans continue their weekend on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. match against SoCon rival Mercer at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
