The second round will begin tomorrow and live stats will be available via BirdieFire.com.

“It was a rough day out there for us,” admitted Head Coach Janell Howland. “They got some work in after the round and hopefully we will bounce back tomorrow. These girls have the talent and it’s just about letting it show in tournaments. I believe we can have a great finish the next two days.”

UNCG was led in the first round by senior Natalia Asensio (75), as she carded a three-over 75. Asensio is currently tied for 15th place, as her round was highlighted by four birdies, two on both the front- and back-nine.

“The conditions out there today were pretty tough with the wind, but I am happy with how I fought the round,” Asensio said. “We are all excited to come back tomorrow and climb up the leaderboard.”

Fellow senior Lexi Kershaw (79), meanwhile, is currently tied for 47th place as she recorded a seven-over 79 during the first 18 holes. Kershaw’s lone birdie on the day came on the second hole.
