LYNCHBURG, Va. – UNC Greensboro raced in the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational at Liberty University Friday and Saturday.

“We had some good individual performances that continue to climb the Southern Conference rankings heading into the championships,” said UNCG head coach Chad Pearson.

Colin Alexander finished third in the Mile, dropping 10 seconds off his previous best to 4:15.22. In the 3,000-meter, Cameron Belk and Ewan Hynes also had big performances dropping time and setting new collegiate best performances of 8:41.00 and 9:03.59 respectfully. In the 800-meter, Juan Rodriguez claimed seventh-place with a time of 1:57.10 and Weston Clayton accomplished the feat in the 800-meter (1:57.12).

Looking back to Friday night’s performances, UNCG's men made a statement in the 5,000-meter. Luke Sumerford (15:18.99) finished second with Alex Roy (15:21.05) right behind him for third. Brandon Hernandez (15:27.79) came in fifth followed by Dalton Miles (15:32.75) in eighth, Thomas Knepshield (15:35.82) in ninth and Dylan Christopher (15:37.99) in 10th.

On the women’s side, Taylor Delaney set a new collegiate-best in the Mile clocking in at 5:02.28 for fifth place and also notched a seventh-place performance in the 800-meter. Kaitlyn Stone set a new indoor personal-record of 17:56.86 to finish second in the 5,000-meter. Ariana Garcia came in ninth with a new season best of 18:24.33, while Kathryn Anderson finished in 18:52.03.

The Spartans will be racing again at the JDL DMR Invitational next Friday and Saturday.
