GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro competed in its first meet of the 2019 year with the Virginia Tech Invitational Friday evening at Rector Field House.
On the women’s side Kaitlyn Stone opened up her season with a personal best of 10:25.40 in the 3,000-meter finishing third overall.
“Kait’s performance was encouraging for the start of the indoor season,” said head coach Chad Pearson.
Also on the women’s side Taylor Delaney (1,000-meter), Alycia Higgins (500-meter), Ariana Garcia, Kathryn Anderson and Lefler McManus (3,000-meter) all captured top-10 performances in their respective events.
For the men, Daniel Rust had a top 10 performance in the men’s 500-meter while Luke Sumerford placed fourth in the 3,000-meter. Brandon Hernandez and Alex Roy also finished in the top-10 in the finals of the event. Trelek Jones and Cameron Belk had strong performances in the mile.
“We had some gentlemen coming back from a long break from racing,” said Pearson. “It was encouraging to see them out there racing tonight.”
The Spartans will be back in action next weekend at the Wake Forest Invitational.
