GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro women’s basketball (4-6) looks to extend its five home game winning streak Sunday by hosting Liberty (2-7) at 2 p.m. in Fleming Gymnasium.

This game will be the third in five days for the Spartans as UNCG traveled to North Carolina Central last Wednesday and to North Carolina Friday.

Five Facts to Know

-The Spartans lead the SoCon in field-goal percentage defense, rebound margin, scoring defense, scoring margin, steals per game, three-point field goals defense, turnover margin and turnovers forced

-Junior guard Nadine Soliman leads the SoCon and ranks 22nd in the NCAA with 20.8 points per game

-The Spartans are 4-5 in the 10-game streak of games played in the state of North Carolina

-Junior forward Te’ja Twitty leads the SoCon with 57.7 shooting percentage, which ranks 31st in the NCAA.

-Soliman ranks 14th in school history with 1,194 points and needs 33 points to enter the top 10. 

The Spartans in 2018

The Spartans fell to North Carolina 83-62 Friday night as junior guard Nadine Soliman recorded a double-double with 28 points and 12 rebounds and junior guard Alexis Pitchford recorded 12 points.

Soliman leads the team with 20.8 points per game, which leads the Southern Conference and ranks 22nd in the NCAA, and averages 8.2 rebounds, which ranks second in the SoCon, 2.5 steals and 2.0 assists per game, while junior forward Te’ja Twitty averages 14.0 points, which ranks sixth in the SoCon, and leads the team with 8.0 rebounds, which leads the conference and sophomore forward Aja Boyd averages 9.1 points and 6.9 rebounds.

The Spartans lead the SoCon in field goal percentage defense (36.3 percent), rebounding margin (3.6), scoring defense (54.2), which ranks 28th in the country, scoring margin (14.7), which ranks 51st, steals per game (9.9), three-point field goal defense (23.6 percent), which ranks eighth in the country, turnover margin (6.70), which ranks 20th in the NCAA, and turnovers forced (21.10), which ranks 43rd in the country.

UNCG leads the series 14-8 over Liberty.

The Flames are 1-1 in the last two games and lost to East Carolina 66-63 on a buzz-beater the last time out.  Liberty is led by Emily Lytle with 15.3 points per game, Ashtyn Baker with 9.8 points per game and Bridgette Rettstatt with 9.6 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game.


The Spartans travel to Florida for two games for the West Palm Beach Invitational.  UNCG faces Eastern Michigan Thursday at 4:45 p.m. and Seton Hall Friday at 7 p.m.
