GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro men’s basketball on Saturday will host North Alabama in Fleming Gymnasium. It will be the Spartans’ only game in the on-campus venue this season.

Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Five Facts To Know

--The Spartans would set a new program record for non-conference victories (10) since joining the Division I level if they’re able to knock off North Alabama. In each of the last two seasons, UNCG has collected a 9-4 non-conference record, but the Spartans have yet to reach the 10-win mark in non-conference play since moving to Division I during the 1991-92 season.

--UNCG could also add another victory to its current streak of 14 straight home victories, which is currently a program record. Through Wednesday’s action, only seven teams have won at least 15 straight games on home court.

--Saturday’s game will be the Spartans’ lone appearance in on-campus Fleming Gymnasium this season. UNCG has won its last five games played in Fleming Gymnasium dating back to Dec. 3, 2016.

--Senior guard Demetrius Troy (129) is just two steals away from cracking the top 10 in program history for career steals. Troy this season has recorded a steal in nine of 11 games, including a four-steal performance against Johnson & Wales along with three steals against both Greensboro College and Kentucky.

--This year’s squad will look to keep pace with the 1994-95 team that jumped out to a 12-2 start. At 9-2 right now, the Spartans this year are tied for the best start through 11 games in program history.

--North Alabama transitioned to the Division I level this year, as the Lions this season are part of the Atlantic Sun Conference. North Alabama is currently 3-7 on the season, coming off a 90-58 victory over Huntingdon on Thursday.

The Spartans In 2018

UNCG (9-2) extended its home winning streak to 14 games on Wednesday evening when the Spartans led from start to finish in a 77-54 victory over Coppin State. Through 11 games so far, the Spartans are tied for the best start in program history, joining the 1994-95 squad that went 12-2 through 14 games before ending the year with a 23-6 record.

Senior guard Francis Alonso is averaging more than 19 points per game this season to lead UNCG, as the Malaga, Spain, native has scored at least 15 points in all 11 games. He is joined by sophomore guard Isaiah Miller (13.1) and junior forward Kyrin Galloway (12.4) in double-digit scoring averages.
