GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro women’s basketball (4-4) defeated Lees-McRae 92-36 in Fleming Gymnasium Thursday night for its fifth consecutive home win dating to last season.

The Spartans have been dominated at home this season averaging 79.5 points, while holding opponents to 30.0 points winning by an average of 49.5 points.  Lees-McRae scored 14 points in the third quarter, which is only the third quarter at home that the Spartans have given up 10-plus points in a quarter in 16 quarters.

The Spartans recorded a season-high 53.1 shooting percentage and with 20 assists.  Sophomore guard Cece Crudup recorded a career-high eight assists, while junior guard Alexis Pitchford recorded five assists.  The Bobcats were held to 26.2 percent from the floor, including five percent from downtown.

Junior guard Nadine Soliman led the team with a game-high 26 points on 11-for-22 shooting from the floor with five rebounds, three assists and three steals, while junior forward Te’ja Twitty added her second consecutive double-double with 16 points on 6-for-6 shooting from the floor and 11 rebounds.

Junior guard Mangela Ngandjui recorded 16 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the floor with six rebounds and four steals, while Crudup and junior guard Alexus Willey added each added eight points. Crudup shot 3-for-4 from the floor and added four steals.

The Spartans scored the first eight points of the first quarter to take an 8-0 lead with 8:08 remaining in the quarter, but Lees-McRae scored five of the next nine points to cut the lead to seven points, 12-7, with 5:09 left.  UNCG scored the next four points to take an 11-point lead, 16-5, with 4:32 remaining, but the Bobcats scored four of the final six points to cut the first quarter lead to nine points, 18-9.

UNCG scored 23 of the first 25 points in the second quarter to increase the lead to 30 points, 41-11, with 1:13 left in the first half, but the Bobcats scored the final three points to cut the halftime lead to 27 points, 41-14.

The Spartans scored 15 of the first 19 points of the third quarter to take a 38-point lead, 56-18, with 4:37 remaining in the quarter, but Lees-McRae scored eight of the next 14 points to cut the lead to 36 points, 62-26, with 1:52 left.  UNCG scored seven of the final nine points to take a third-quarter lead by 41 points, 62-28.

UNCG scored 26 of the first 30 points of the fourth quarter to take a 54-point lead, 86-32, with 4:56 remaining in the game, but the Bobcats scored the next two points to cut the lead to 52 points, 86-34, with 3:39 left.  The Spartans scored six of the final eight points for the 56-point win.

The Spartans start a two-game road trip with North Carolina Sunday at 2 p.m. in Chapel Hill.
