MACON, Ga. – UNC Greensboro men’s soccer (5-8-3, 1-2-2) fell 3-0 to Mercer (11-2-2, 4-0-0) in a Southern Conference matchup Saturday night at Bear Field. The Bears built a 2-0 advantage in the first half and never relinquished its lead.
Mercer’s first goal came in the 26th minute when Trevor Martineau headed in a ball off a cross from Roberto Arteaga.
The next goal also came on a header. Ramario Thompson had the score in the 35th minute off a free kick by Arteaga.
UNCG had a 12-8 shot advantage in the second half with five shots on goal, but it was unable to get on the board.
Mercer’s last goal was in the 86th minute when Martineau converted on a two-on-one break with Leo Toledo Jr.
UNCG goalkeeper Ricky Zarri made three saves.
UNCG closes out the regular season at home next Saturday at 7 p.m. against Furman on Senior Night.
