GREENSBORO, N.C.- UNC Greensboro’s men’s golf team finished in third place at the 2018 Wolfpack Intercollegiate, which took place this weekend at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C. The Spartans shot a 846 (290-277-279) during the two-day tournament, finishing behind only host North Carolina State and Jacksonville in the 15-team field.
Junior Jonathan Brightwell (70-66-69) finished the tournament in second place, as he completed the tournament at 11-under after collecting a three-under 69 in the third round. The finish was Brightwell’s best since tying for first place in the 2017 Southern Conference Championship.
Sophomore Nick Lyerly (73-67-68) also finished in the top-10, as the Salisbury, N.C., native finished the third round with four-under 68. As for senior Bryce Hendrix (73-71-71), he capped off the tournament with one-under 71 to finish the two days of action at one-under and tied for 23rd place.
After finishing both of the first two rounds over-par, junior Grant Powell (77-73-71) climbed to an 58th place finish shooting a one-under 71 in the third round.
Sophomore Justin Emmons (74-74-75) rounded out team play for the Spartans at three-over 75 in the third round.
After shooting a three-under 141 in the first two rounds, sophomore Zack Swanson (71-70-75) finished individual play tied for 27th place.
The Spartans will return to the course on Oct. 15-16, participating in the AutoTrader Collegiate at Berkeley Hills Country Club in Duluth, Ga.
