GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women’s soccer (4-1-1) scored three first half goals and cruised to a 4-0 victory over the High Point Panthers (1-4-1) on Labor Day at UNCG Soccer Stadium. Nicole Souply, Cienna Rideout and Quiqui Hita provided the three scores in the first 45 minutes.

"It was such a dominating performance tonight," said head coach Michael Coll. "We've been so close to putting away teams with multiple goals and a shutout, and that's exactly what we did tonight."

UNCG improves to 7-1-1 all-time against High Point and have outscored the Panthers 22-3. The 4-0 win tied for the second-biggest win in the series, which was another 4-0 win at home in 2009.

Souply notched the game-winning and her first collegiate goal in the 10th minute. Rideout passed the ball to Duty in the left corner, Duty crossed it over into the box and Souply deflected it into the net just a few yards out.

Rideout doubled UNCG’s lead in the 32nd minute and stretched her goal-scoring streak to four games. Taking a pass from Jordin Mosley not far from midfield, Gracie Timbario dribbled the ball down to the right corner and crossed it past a diving goalkeeper where Rideout was able to chip it in a few yards out.

Hita’s goal came five minutes later. After Grace Regal forced a High Point defender to turn the ball over and put a shot on goal, Hita banged in a ball right on the line after the save.

Caroline Fiorella recorded her first collegiate goal in the 82nd minute. Natalie Sabiston passed the ball from midfield to Regal, who turned and chipped it past two defenders to a streaking Fiorella. Fiorella scored inside the left side of the box into the right side of the net.

UNCG finished with a 21-10 shots advantage, including 14-4 in the first half. Eight of the 11 shots on goal for the Spartans came in the first half.

"Tonight, we looked and played faster," said Coll. "Players took less touches and we got it up the field quicker. The players who had their chances tonight really took them. They only needed one opportunity, and they were certainly on form to score."

Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper (4-1-1) finished with three saves and combined with Anna Bryant for UNCG’s third shutout of the year. Bryant made her collegiate debut and made three saves in the last 15 minutes of the game.

Hita, Rideout and Grace Kennedy all had three shots. Souply, Kennedy, Heida Ragney Vidarsdottir and Hital each placed two shots on goal.

UNCG will face another in-state opponent Davidson on the road Friday at 7 p.m.
