GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women’s golf has added Brittany Whatley as an assistant coach, head coach Janell Howland announced Friday. Whatley was the head coach last year at Indiana University East.
“We are excited to have Brittany joining our staff here at UNCG,” said Howland. “She comes to us with a lot of experience being a Division 1 golfer as well as a head coach. I believe she will come in and make an impact right away!”
In Whatley's only season at Indiana University East, a NAIA school, she guided the Red Wolves to a second-place finish at the River States Conference tournament, the best finish at a conference tournament in program history. The team broke program records for lowest team scores throughout the season. She also helped Bre Nowak finish 10th at the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship to become the first golf All-American in school history.
Whatley played at Nevada and Morehead State during her college career and was a Women's Collegiate Golf All-American Scholar. She won the Southern Nevada Women's Amateur in 2016 and was a three-time participant in the Callaway World Junior Championships and two-time Future Collegians World Tour All-American.
A Henderson, Nevada native, Whatley graduated from Morehead State with a Bachelor of Arts in Strategic Communication. She served as a volunteer for The First Tee's Northern and Southern Nevada chapters.
