GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG Spartan Club hosted its first-ever Spiro’s Ball event along with its 25th-annual Spartan Club Golf Outing in April. Both events were held at the Starmount Forest Country Club and were sponsored by Northwestern Mutual. One hundred percent of the dollars raised through the Spartan Club events goes to the athletic scholarship fund in support of UNCG’s student-athletes.
Spiro’s Ball was a capstone event for the Spartan Club this season and included a three-course dinner along with a live auction featuring auctioneer Donna Joyce. Additionally, a silent online auction was held during a six-week period prior to the event April 20. Over 200 attendees were at Spiro’s Ball and over 100 items were bid on during the night that included appearances by UNCG head coaches and student-athletes. The event generated more than $52,000 in total revenue
“Spiro’s Ball was a great event for the UNCG Athletic Department,” Director of Athletics Kim Record said. “We were able to raise a substantial amount of money that will directly impact our student-athletes and our programs. We are so thankful for the hard work of our volunteers and all of those in the community who took part in both events.”
Additionally, the Spartan Club hosted its annual Golf Outing April 21 at the Starmount Forest Country Club. This year’s event was sold out with 27 foursomes and generated more than $46,000 in total revenue.
