GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG senior women’s golfer Berglind Bjornsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland/Menntaskolinn I Reykjavik) is representing Iceland for the first time in her career this week at the European Ladies Team Championship Tuesday-Saturday. The event is being held at the Golf & Country Club Diners Ljubljana in Slovenia with live scoring available in the enclosed link.
"I am really excited to go to Slovenia and represent my home country in such a big tournament," said Bjornsdottir. “It is a great opportunity to compete against the best players in Europe."
Bjornsdottir earned her spot in the National Team by finishing in fifth, first and third place in the first three events of the Eimskipsmotarodin Tour. Bjornsdottir won the Egils Gull championship on the Eimskipsmotarodin Tour in Iceland May 30th.
The 20-team field includes Iceland, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Russia, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and Wales.
The first two days of the tournament are stroke play where the best five of six scores count. Each team then is divided into flights A, B and C according to their scores and the teams play match play against those in its given flight.
