Former Menís Basketball Standout Ricky Hickman Signs with Fenerbahce 07-02-2014

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Former UNCG men’s basketball standout and Euroleague champion Ricky Hickman has signed a two-year deal with Fenerbahce Ulker in Turkey. Hickman has been playing in the Euroleague with Maccabi Tel Aviv for the last two years, helping his team with the Euroleague title this past May.

Hickman, a four-year letterwinner for the Spartans from 2003-07, was one of the best players of Maccabi Tel Aviv at the Final Four Games in Milan, averaging 14 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He was named 2012-13 Euroleague Top 16 Week Three and the 2013-14 Euroleague Playoffs Game One MVP. He also won the 2013-14 Israel National Championship and the 2013 and 2014 Israel National Cup with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Hickman’s coach at Maccabi Tel Aviv, David Blatt, was recently hired as the head coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Hickman has been playing professionally overseas since 2007, when he started with PVSK Pecs. He was named the 2011 Italian League MVP and he played the 2012 Italian All Star Game. Hickman was also the member of the Georgian National Team at the 2013 European Championship.
