GREENSBORO, N.C.- The UNCG women’s tennis team will host its final home match of the 2014 season Thursday afternoon as the Spartans welcome in The Phoenix of Elon University. The match is set for 2 p.m. at the UNCG Tennis Courts.

UNCG is coming off a tough road trip with losses to Chattanooga and Samford. The Spartans fell 5-2 Saturday to the Mocs and were swept by the Bulldogs Sundayafternoon.

Kayla Gammie (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Broward Virtual School) and Yasmin Franco (Largo, Fla./Indian Rocks Christian) sit at 9-8 and 9-6, respectively on the season. Gammie and her doubles partner, Devon Sutherland (Lake Wylie, S.C./Clover) are 7-9 at the No. 1 doubles slot.

UNCG sits at 4-3 in conference play and stands in fifth place in the conference. Elon is 4-3 as well in Southern Conference play and stands in fourth place with a 10-8 overall record.

The Phoenix are coming off two straight losses as well, as they fell to Samford and Chattanooga on the road over the weekend.

Only two more matches remain before the Southern Conference Tournament kicks off on Wednesday, April 16. The Spartans will finish off the regular season on the road at Davidson.
