GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women’s soccer team finished a successful 2013 campaign with a 10-6-4 record earning back-to-back winning seasons and its 10th winning season in the last 11 years.

The Spartans also were 5-2-3 in the Southern Conference earning a top three seed for the 11th straight season. UNCG ultimately fell to sixth-seeded Wofford in penalty kicks 5-4 in a wild double overtime affair in the Southern Conference quarterfinals.

Sophomore Chesney White (Franklin, Tenn./Franklin) and Freshman Rebecca Burrows (Auckland, New Zealand/Mount Albert Grammer School) were selected to the SoCon second team. Burrows and classmate Georgia Brown (Dunedin, New Zealand/St. Hilda’s Collegiate) were honored on the SoCon All-Freshman team.

The team earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's Team Academic Award for the 12th straight season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jamie Simmons (Houston, Texas/Clear Brook), White, Burrows and Brown were all named to the NCCSIA All-State team for their outstanding seasons in 2013.

UNCG begins its preparations for the 2014 season with a spring season in March as the Spartans return 17 letter winners from a season ago.
