GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG senior outside hitter Karrian Chambers (College Station, Texas/A&M Consolidated) and freshman setter Sara Hohman (Zionsville, Ind./Cathedral) were recognized by the Southern Conference volleyball head coaches for their efforts this season as the All-SoCon volleyball teams were released Wednesday by the league.

Chambers was selected to the First Team while Hohman was tabbed an All-Freshman honoree. The all-conference designation is the second straight for Chambers as she was named to the Second Team last season.

Chambers leads UNCG with a 3.22 kills per set average while ranking second in total kills at 299. She became the ninth player in program history to record 1,000 career kills earlier this season. Chambers also averages 2.43 digs per set and has produced 11 double-doubles this season. In terms of the league rankings, she is sixth in kills per set.

The senior has played very well the last few weeks as she has been named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week two-straight times and three overall this season. In league play, Chambers is averaging 3.46 kills per set, hitting .255, posting 2.90 digs per set and blocking 0.50 attacks per set.

Hohman, who was named the SoCon Freshman of the Week Oct. 28, currently ranks eighth in the league in assists per set at 8.54 while having upped that average to 9.27 in conference matches. She has eclipsed the 50-assist plateau five times this year, including a career-best 54 against Furman – a match in which she also recorded a personal-high 22 digs. Hohman is averaging 2.17 digs per set this season while boasting a hitting percentage of .287 and 35 kills.

UNCG opens the 2013 Southern Conference Volleyball Championship Friday, Nov. 22, as the No. 4 seed and will play fifth-seeded Appalachian State at 10:00 a.m. inside Timmons Arena on the campus of Furman University.

Spartan fans traveling to the tournament should be advised of other events occurring at Furman this weekend besides the volleyball tournament. To avoid traffic complications, enter campus via Duncan Chapel Road off of Highway 25 and avoid the main entrance to campus.
