2009-10: Redshirted the season … went 8-6 as an unattached wrestler … earned All-American honors at the 2010 FILA Junior Nationals with his fifth place finish in the 63 kg freestyle bracket … also earned All-American honors at the 2010 University Nationals after coming in eighth place in the 60 kg Greco-Roman bracket … started the year 3-2 after the Virginia Tech Open, where he scored a pin over Chris Woltz from North Carolina and a major decision … went 4-2 at the UNC Pembroke Open, including a second period pin over Casey Gashaw from St. Andrews … also wrestled at the NC State Open where he pinned Chattanooga’s Logan Biddy.

High School: Earned four varsity letters at North Forsyth High School in Winston-Salem, N.C. for coach Gene Bowles ... finished third at 135 pounds at the state championships as a senior ... was a state qualifier as a sophomore and junior too ... won the regional championship his final two seasons ... was a team captain and named wrestler of the year for his team as a senior ... recorded the most wins in school history ... was a two-time county champion ... also letter in football for two seasons and track for one year.
