LEXINGTON, VA. – UNC Greensboro men’s basketball continues Southern Conference action on Saturday when the Spartans face VMI at Cameron Hall.

Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Five Facts To Know

--The Spartans (13-2) are off to their best start in program history following a victory over Chattanooga this past Saturday at the Greensboro Coliseum. In a 13-point victory over the Mocs, head coach Wes Miller surpassed Mike Dement for the most wins in program history at 125. Miller is in his eighth season running the team.

--If UNCG is able to defeat VMI on Saturday, it will be the Spartans’ seventh consecutive win dating back to Dec. 7 in a one-point victory over Elon. For only the second time in program history the Spartans have registered two six-game winning streaks in a single season (2016-17 being the other). Additionally, a seven-game winning streak would be the team’s longest since a nine-game winning streak from Feb. 4-March, 5, 2017.

--Through Wednesday night’s action, UNCG is tied for the second most wins in the country at 13 with St. John’s, Michigan, Gonzaga and North Texas.

--Senior guard Francis Alonso needs just three steals to reach 100 career steals.

--VMI enters the game with a 6-8 record. While the Keydets have dropped their first two SoCon games this season, they are 5-1 so far in Cameron Hall. They also have the conference’s leading score in Bubba Parham, who is averaging 22.2 points per contest.

The Spartans This Season

After ending non-conference play with a program-record 11 victories, the Spartans are off to a 2-0 start in SoCon play for the second year in a row after knocking off Samford and Chattanooga respectively.

Alonso leads the team in scoring at 18.5 points per game. The Malaga, Spain, native has reached double digits in scoring in all 15 of UNCG’s games so far this year. Sophomore guard Isaiah Miller, meanwhile, has set new personal bests in scoring in each of the last two games, dropping 20 points against Samford and 21 points against Chattanooga.

Junior forward Kyrin Galloway is averaging 11.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in 15 starts this season while fellow junior forward Eric Hamilton is coming off his first career double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds against the Mocs.

Series History
This will be the 24th meeting between the two schools dating back to the 1978-79 season. The Spartans hold a 15-8 lead in the series, sweeping the matchups each of the last two years.

Since VMI returned to the SoCon in 2014, the Spartans are 7-1 against the Keydets.
