INDIANAPOLIS – UNCG athletics had all 17 teams receive satisfactory marks in the latest Academic Progress Report (APR) scores released by the NCAA Wednesday. The scores announced Tuesday reflect the multiyear APR scores from the 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 academic years.
“Academic success continues to be the foundation of our program and the metric of graduation success rates and GPA reflect this.” Director of Athletics Kim Record said, “The APR speaks to the eligibility and retention and we continue to score strong on each of these as well with three teams having perfect scores and all programs above the 930 cutoff.”
Six of UNCG’s 15 teams had a multiyear APR score at or better than their respective sport’s national average, including three perfect scores of 1,000 by men’s tennis, women’s golf and volleyball. Volleyball has now had a perfect score of 1,000 for the last two seasons. Six UNCG programs earned APR scores at or above the single season national average, including baseball, men’s basketball, men’s tennis, women’s golf, women’s track and field and volleyball.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team’s academic success each semester or quarter by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. The APR includes eligibility, retention and graduation in the calculation and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport.
