GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG baseball hosts the Elon Phoenix for final home game of the season Tuesday night at the UNCG Baseball Stadium at 6 p.m. The game is the last time to catch any UNCG event in Greensboro this season. The Spartans clinched the Southern Conference’s Regular Season Championship last weekend after sweeping The Citadel Bulldogs to improve to 37-12 on the season. Elon enters on a three-game winning streak of its own, having swept Towson to run its record to 31-21 on the season.

There will be live stats available for tomorrow’s contest via UNCGStats.com. There will not be a video stream available. Dollar hot dogs will be available at the concession stands for the final event of the year.

The Spartans trail the all-time series with Elon, 34-17 but were victorious at Elon earlier this season and have won four of the last five meetings. The Spartans look to sweep the season series for the second time in as many seasons Tuesday evening.

UNCG will send right-hander Jake Mayhew to the hill Tuesday. Mayhew will be making his seventh start of the season, having earned a 1-1 record with 24 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched. The Spartan pitching staff has earned a 3.87 ERA and ranks 11th in the nation, averaging 9.8 strikeouts per nine innings.

The Spartan offense jumped to second in the nation, raising its team average to .327 after last weekend. Andrew Moritz leads the Spartans and the SoCon with a .427 batting average and 55 RBI. He’s tied for the team-lead with 51 runs scored and leads the team with a .646 slugging percentage. Caleb Webster hits at a .379 average with eight extra-base hits on the year and has driven in 32 runs. Dillon Stewart and Tripp Shelton each have hit seven home runs this season, driving in 34 and 33 runs, respectively.

Elon will send Daniel Albrittain to the mound for just the fifth time this season. Albrittain has a 2.08 ERA in 4.1 innings, allowing one earned run on four hits and striking out five. Albrittain threw a scoreless inning in Saturday’s game against Towson, striking out two. His longest outing of the season was 2.0 innings in a 10-0 victory over Appalachian State where he struck out two in March. Elon’s pitching staff has a team ERA of 3.30, ranking 17th in ERA. The staff averages 10.1 strikeouts per nine innings pitched, which ranks seventh nationally.

As a team, the Phoenix hit for a .260 average. Ryne Ogren leads the team with a .354 average with 16 doubles three home runs and has driven in 50 runs on the year. Zach Evers is the only other member of the Phoenix to play in all 52 games, earning a .299 average with 13 doubles and a pair of home runs. Three Phoenix have hit four home runs this season to lead the team. Cam Devanney, Liam O’Regan and James Venuto have all gone yard four times, hitting at .304, .264 and .241 averages, respectively.
