GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG placed 44 student-athletes on the 2017 Spring Academic All-Southern Conference Team, according to an announcement by the league office Monday. The Spartans had 12 teams represented, led by seven selections from men's indoor track and field. Baseball and men's outdoor track each had six selections; women's golf, women's indoor track and women's outdoor track each had four honorees; softball, men's tennis and women's tennis each had three selections; women's basketball had two and men's basketball had one honoree.

To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average at the conclusion of the spring semester and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.

UNCG placed two student-athletes on the list with a perfect 4.0 GPA on the spring Academic All-SoCon team in Brandon King (Burnsville, N.C./Mitchell) of men's indoor and outdoor track and Lexi Kershaw (Winston-Salem, N.C./Catawba) of women's golf.

The Southern Conference had 480 student-athletes earn Academic All-Conference honors for the spring, with each of the 10 institutions having at least 30 honorees.
