GREENSBORO, N.C. – Friday night the UNCG women’s basketball team makes the trip to the Millis Center to face Triad-foe High Point in the non-conference finale. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. as the Spartans (8-6) look to extend their win streak to four-straight and notch the squad’s ninth win of the season. A win for the Blue & Gold would mark the first nine-win non-conference season since 1997-98, a year in which the Spartans went on to win the Southern Conference Tournament and earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

UNCG and High Point (2-8) are 12-12 in the all-time series. Last season, the Spartans defeated HPU 82-72 in Greensboro in a game that then senior Lucy Mason set a program record for individual points in a game (42).

The freshmen duo of Nadine Soliman and Te'ja Twitty are pacing UNCG with 17.6 and 10.9 points per game while Twitty leads the Blue & Gold with 7.5 rebounds per game. Last time out, the pair of rookies both scored 20 points to help UNCG to an 81-66 win over Eastern Kentucky (3-10). Alexis Pitchford is coming off a career-high 19-point performance while senior India Timpton had one of her best games of the season against EKU.

UNCG is outscoring its opponents by an average of 7.1 points per game and is shooting 41.2 percent from the field. The Blue & Gold has held opponents to just 26.7 percent from three-point range and is averaging 41.1 rebounds per game.

High Point’s leading scorer is Kat Harris, who is averaging 11.8 points per game. Kaylah Keys is contributing 10.3 points per game while Shea Morgan and Emma Bockrath are grabbing 5.9 and 5.4 boards per game, respectively. HPU is shooting 37.5 percent from the field while opponents are averaging 42.9 percent and 6.4 more points per game.

The Panthers snapped a six-game losing streak with a 74-58 win over Spring Hill December 17 but most recently lost, 73-64, to SoCon member Western Carolina December 21.

Fans that can’t make the trip to High Point can watch the action live on the Big South Network. Live stats will also be available at UNCGSpartans.com.
