Women’s Tennis Adds Two to 2014-15 Roster
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women's tennis team added two players Blaine Boaz (Dunwoody, Ga./Saint Pius X) and Corinne Blythe (Leicestershire, Great Britain/Queenswood School), announced by head coach Jeff Trivette Wednesday.
“We are very excited about our freshmen class this year,” Trivette said. “Blaine and Corrine are very good athletes, who will come in and make an immediate impact. We have a lot of depth and experience in our returning group, but these guys will come in and push for lineup positions right away. I think it’s great to have that competition as it makes everyone hungry. I expect that we will see huge contributions from Corinne and Blaine by the end of the year.”
Boaz is a three-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net and is ranked No. 20 in the state of Georgia. She has a stellar 5-3 record against fellow three-star recruits. Boaz played four years for Saint Pius X high school winning a state championship during her sophomore season. Her team was a state runner-up during her senior year and she was team captain. In the classroom, Boaz graduated with a solid 3.78 GPA.
Blythe becomes the third British player on the UNCG roster joining Soumeya Anane (Coventry, Great Britain (Tile Hill Wood School) and Amy Ellis (Cheshire, Great Britain/New Castle Under Lyme School). Blythe helped her team win three-straight Aegon Team Tennis Schools National Championships from 2011-13. Blythe helped Queenswood claim a silver medal at the International School Sports Federation’s (ISF) World Schools Tennis Championships held in Albury-Wodonga, Australia. She is a two-time Leicestershire Junior Championship under-18 title holder.
