James Selected To Participate In CVCL All-Star Game

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG rising senior right-handed pitcher Brennen James (Taylorsville, N.C./Alexander Central) has been named to the Carolina Virginia Collegiate League All-Star Game Grey roster as announced by the organization this week. The contest is scheduled for July 12th at 6:15 p.m. inside LP Frans Stadium in Hickory, N.C.

James owns a 4-0 record and a league third-best 0.72 earned run average over six appearances (29 innings pitched) for the Kernersville Bulldogs. He has amassed 30 strikeouts and threw a complete game shutout in a 4-0 victory over the Fuquay Varina Twins June 22. James struck out 11 batters in the contest and earned the league’s pitcher of the week award as a result. He also earned a three-inning save in the Bulldogs’ 5-4 win over Thomasville June 1.

James appeared in 23 games for the Spartans during the 2014 campaign and ended the season with a 4.28 ERA in 27.1 innings pitched. He tallied 21 strikeouts and picked up a victory North Carolina A&T April 2. James also notched four strikeouts on two separate occasions – at UNC Wilmington (March 12) and at home against Southern Conference regular season champion Western Carolina (April 5).
