Menís Basketball Adds Transfer Ben Dickinson To Roster

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG men’s basketball coach Wes Miller announced the addition of transfer forward Ben Dickinson (Alexandria, Va./Loyola Marymount) to the roster.

“We are excited to have Ben join our program,” Miller said. “He will bring added depth and experience to our already strong frontcourt. He comes from a winning high school program and has already proven he can play at the Division I level.”

Dickinson, a 6-9/230 forward, spent the 2013-14 season at Loyola Marymount playing in 19 games, including 10 starts. He averaged 8.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game for the Lions, while shooting 53.4 percent (71-of-133) form the field and 65.5 percent (19-of-29) from the free throw line. He scored in double figures nine times during the year, including a season-high 22 points against South Dakota State. He sat out the 2012-13 season at LMU due to NCAA transfer rules.

Prior to Loyola Marymount, Dickinson was a standout his freshman season at Binghamton where he earned America East All-Rookie accolades before transferring during a coaching change. He averaged 13.5 points and 6.1 rebounds for the Bearcats as he posted three double-doubles on the year while leading the team in scoring 15 times. His 405 points scored set the Binghamton freshman scoring record, while his 184 rebounds was second all-time for rookies.

Dickinson led the America East in rebounding among all freshman and ranked eighth overall on the glass while also checking in second in rookie scoring and 11th overall. He scored a season-high 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds in his first career America East Tournament game and followed that up with a 20-point effort in the America East quarterfinals.

Dickinson was a standout at Gonzaga High School in Alexandria, Va., where he helped his team to a 25-7 record as a senior, while averaging 4.8 points and 5.0 rebounds on a loaded team. He is the son of Kathleen and Tim Dickinson, who both played collegiate volleyball.
