Menís Tennis Concludes Wake Forest Open

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The UNCG men's tennis team finished its first fall tournament of the 2013-14 season at the Wake Forest Open in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Senior Ahmet Sarioglu (Ankara, Turkey/METU Development Foundation)
 went 1-1 earning a three set victory against Gabriel Townes, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the round of 64. Sarioglu lost to Nicholas Kunz, 6-2, 6-4 in the round of 32. 

Junior Randy Phillips (Snellville, Ga./Brookwood) also went 1-1 claiming a straight sets victory 6-1, 3-0 against Nicholas Ramsey who was forced to retire due to injury. Phillips dropped his next match to Maksim Kan, 6-3, 6-3 in the round of 32.

Sophomore Gaston Murray (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) finished 1-1 taking down Paul Cisti, 6-4, 1-0 after Cisti retired due to injury. Murray lost in straight sets to Jonathan Ho, 6-2, 6-3 in the round of 32. 

Sophomore Daniel Mack (Lakeland, Fla./Lakeland) lost in the round of 64 to Nolan Bauer 6-3, 6-3. Mack bounced back picking up a pair of consolation victories.

UNCG will compete in four more fall tournaments before beginning the spring season in January: the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C., the ITA Carolina Regional in Cary, N.C., Elon Fall Invitational in Burlington, N.C. and the Winthrop Fall Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C.
