Courtney Taylor Named All-America Scholar 06-25-2013

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG senior women's golfer Courtney Taylor (Gastonia, N.C./Ashbrook) has been named a Women's Collegiate Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America Scholar Thursday. Taylor finished her four-year career in impressive fashion, posting back-to-back top five finishes in her final two collegiate events.  

Taylor finished second on the team and 15th in the Southern Conference with a 76.90 stroke average in 29 rounds her senior season. She recorded the top finish of her career in her second-to-last event with a fourth place showing at the Lady Seahawk Classic. She fired a 7-over par 223 (74-75-74) in the event.

Taylor closed out her career with a career-best 6-over par 222 (78-72-72) at the SoCon Championships. She finished in a tie for fourth place overall in the event on the strength of back-to-back rounds of 72. She was also named the SoCon Golfer of the Week in March after placing 10th at the Mount View Classic. Additionally, she recorded her first career hole-in-one at the Kiawah Island Classic, hitting a 4-Hybrid club on the 156-yard par 3 hole No. 12.

The criteria for selection to the All-America Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum GPA is a 3.50 and a total of 644 women's collegiate golfers in NCAA Division I, II and III were chosen this season.
