RALEIGH, N.C. – Former UNCG men's golfer Andy Bare shot a 2-over 73 in the final round of the Rex Hospital Open on Sunday to finish tied for 34th at 5-under for the tournament. The Nationwide Tour event was played at TPC Wakefield Plantation.

Bare started the final day of the tournament tied for 14th and played the front nine 1-under after a pair of birdies and a bogey on the first four holes. Bare went back to even par with a bogey on No. 12, then was undone by a double bogey on 16.

After starting with a 66 on Thursday to sit fourth, Bare posted rounds of 73 and 67 on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

His four-day total of 279 left him nine strokes back of winner Kyle Thompson, who posted steady round of 68, 66, 68 and 68 for the 14-under win.

Bare was a two-time All-Southern Conference selection for the Spartans, taking the honor in 2002-03 and 2003-04, his only two years at UNCG. He was a two-time medalist in his collegiate career, taking titles at the Birkdale Collegiate Classic and the Bradford Creek Intercollegiate, both in his senior season.
