Bare shoots 67 Saturday to move to 14th at Rex Hospital Open 06-10-2011

RALEIGH, N.C. – Former UNCG men's golfer Andy Bare shot a 4-under 67 Saturday to move up to a tie for 14th after three rounds at the Rex Hospital Open, a Nationwide Tour event being played at TPC Wakefield Plantation. Bare is just five shots out of the lead heading into Sunday's final round.

Bare began the day tied for 36 after shooting 2-over on Friday, but rebounded nicely with birdies on three of his first five holes Saturday. Overall, he turned in five birdies and just one bogey in the third round to move to 7-under for the tournament. Bare was tied for fourth after an opening-round 66 on Thursday and followed that up with a 73 Friday.

The trio of Troy Kelly, Ryan Armour and Martin Flores share the lead at 12-under 201 for the tournament.

Bare's score of 67 was tied for the second-lowest Saturday behind only Kelly's sizzling 63.

Bare was a two-time All-Southern Conference selection for the Spartans, taking the honor in 2002-03 and 2003-04, his only two years at UNCG. He was a two-time medalist in his collegiate career, taking titles at the Birkdale Collegiate Classic and the Bradford Creek Intercollegiate, both in his senior season.

Bare will tee off in Sunday's final round at 9:16 a.m.
