UNCG women's golf announces fall schedule
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG's women's golf team will compete in five fall tournaments in the Carolinas to kick off the 2011-12 season, coach Emily Marron announced Thursday.
The Spartans will open 2011-12 competition at the Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall Country Club in Charleston, S.C., from Sept, 11-13. The tournament, hosted by College of Charleston, is one of three hosted by rival Southern Conference schools in which UNCG will participate.
UNCG will take part in Western Carolina's Great Smokies Intercollegiate at the Waynesville Country Club in Waynesville, N.C., from Sept. 19-20, then return home to host the UNCG Starmount Classic at Starmount Forest Country Club in Greensboro from Oct. 2-4.
The following week, the Spartans will compete at East Carolina's Lady Pirate Intercollegiate at the Greenville Country Club in Greenville, N.C., from Oct. 10-11.
UNCG will close the fall portion of the season at College of Charleston's Palmetto Intercollegiate from Oct. 23-24. That event will be played at the Kiawah Resort in Kiawah, S.C.
"Our schedule will give us the opportunity to play some of the best teams in college golf, as well as take us to some tremendous courses," Marron said. "Our home events, both at Starmount and Bryan Park (in the spring), are two of the finest fields we will compete in all season."
