GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG volleyball signee Katherine Santiago (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Colegio Adianez) led her team VB Rags to the Puerto Rico Junior National Championships last week and was named to the nine-member All-Tournament Team at the event. Santiago joins the 2012 UNCG team in August when it reports for preseason practices.

"We are excited for Katherine for winning such a difficult tournament," head volleyball coach Patrick Nicholas said. "The event was fantastic and provided great competition throughout. Her team had great battles in the final eight playoffs and we are really proud of her for leading them to the title while earning all-tournament honors. We look forward to welcoming her into the UNCG volleyball family when she arrives on campus this fall."

Santiago, a libero/defensive specialist, played four years on the varsity team at Colegio Adianez. She earned All-Star honors as the Puerto Rico Junior Nationals last season as well. She played her club volleyball for the Puerto-Rican based VB Rags where her 16-1 team finished seventh in the 16-open division at the USA Volleyball Junior Olympics.
