Three members of UNCG’s men’s basketball program have been named to the USA East Coast team for a week-long international trip that will take place in Germany, the Netherlands and Italy with games between Aug. 3-6.
Junior forwards James Dickey and Kyrin Galloway were among 12 players selected for the squad while Tom Tankelewicz, graduate assistant manager, will work in a non-coaching role on Hall of Famer Larry Brown's staff.
USA East Coast, formerly East Coast All Stars, was formed in 2006 to give players the opportunity to experience cultural and educational diversity. During the week-long trip, the team will play four different games in three different countries, concluding with a matchup against Vicenza Select Italy on Aug. 6.
In his first two seasons with the Spartans, Dickey has appeared in 66 games with 42 starts.
The 6-foot-10, 200 pounder holds the program single-game records for rebounds (19) and blocks (eight) and was also named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year for the 2017-18 season.
Entering his third season, Galloway has appeared in 63 games with three career starts.
Last season, the Milton, Ga., native averaged 5.7 points per contest to go along with 4.4 rebounds per game. In a victory over Samford in the regular season finale this past February, Galloway scored a career-high 15 points in 17 minutes.
The two will be joined by players from Kansas, Purdue, South Carolina, SMU, Columbia, Colorado, Delaware and Abilene Christian.
Tankelewicz is entering his third season on UNCG head coach Wes Miller’s staff after playing collegiately at Western Carolina from 2011-14.
