MESA, Ariz. – Tara Bettle (Hohen Neuendorf, Germany) led the women’s golf team to a 13th-place finish in the Clover Cup, hosted by Notre Dame over the weekend. Bettle finished the three-day event tied for 18th place, shooting seven-over par.
The Spartans shot 65-over par, shooting 303, 309 and 317 on the weekend. UNCG shot 15-over, 21-over and 29-over during the three-day competition. Oklahoma took home the team title, shooting 7-over par (291-288-292) and four over on the final day.
Bettle finished with a one-over par, connecting for three birdies and 12 pars on the final day. For the tournament, she shot seven-over, shooting 76-74-77, for 223 during the three days.
“After a rather difficult start today, I could manage to hold my score together and make a couple birdies to finish one-over par.” Bettle said, “Unfortunately, we couldn’t deliver the way we wanted to this tournament as a team, but we look forward to our next event in Georgia.”
Louisa Tichy (Germering, Germany) finished in 41st, shooting 12-over par. She finished the day shooting a 79 with seven pars, two birdies and finished the day with an eagle.
“It was tough out there for all of us today.” Louisa Tichy said, “I was able to push through and finish strong with an eagle. It is always fun out here in Arizona and we can’t wait to come back stronger next year.”
Natalia Asensio (Madrid, Spain/Cardenal Spinola) and Kendall Dobbins (Summerfield, N.C./Norhtern Guilford) each shot seven-over on the day. Asensio finished with six pars. Dobbins added nine pars and a birdie on the final day. Asensio finished tied for 76th, with Dobbins coming in 62nd after shooting 21-over on the weekend. Keri Kenkel (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) added a birdie and eight pars, finishing tied for 84th.
