Women's Golf Tied for 11th After Day Two of the Clover Cup
MESA, Ariz. – Tara Bettle (Hohen Neuendorf, Germany) shot two-over par, sinking three birdies and recording 10 pars to lead UNCG on day two of the Clover Cup, hosted by Notre Dame. UNCG is tied with Toledo for 11th place in the 16-team field, shooting 612 through two days. Arizona State paces the field, shooting one-under par. The Spartans are back in action tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. on the final day of the Clover Cup.
“After a very solid first nine holes noting down level par, I had some trouble getting into my game on the back nine, but was able to finish my round with a birdie shooting a 74.” Bettle said, “I hope tomorrow we can take advantage of our possibilities on this golf course as a team and finish strong.”
Bettle is currently tied for 30th, sitting six-over par after two days. Louisa Tichy (Germering, Germany) leads the Spartans and is tied for 24th, shooting five-over par in two days. Tichy finished with 10 pars and a birdie, shooting four-over par on day two.
Kendall Dobbins (Summerfield, N.C./Northern Guilford) added 11 pars and two birdies to finish two-over on the day and is currently nine over par after the second round, tied for 47th.
“I’m playing good golf, but there is always room for improvement.” Dobbins said, “There are a couple holes I can clean up for tomorrow’s final round, but I’m excited to see how we finish as a team.”
Natalia Asensio (Madrid, Spain/Cardenal Spinola) added nine pars and a birdie in her second round, shooting 10-over par. Keri Kenkel (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) added seven pars in today’s competition.
The 16-team field features Arizona State, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Delaware, FIU, IUPUI, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas State, Toledo and UNCG.
