GREENSBORO, N.C. — The UNCG men’s golf team sits alone in sixth place at the Tiger Invitational Sunday hosted by Auburn at the Grand National Lake Course. The second round will be played Monday with tee times from 8:40-9:20 a.m. with live scoring at www.golfstat.com

The Spartans posted a 5-over par 293 in the first round, sitting two strokes out of fourth place in the 17-team field. Tournament host Auburn holds the team lead with a 7-under par 281 while Kennessaw State was the only other team under par. Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero of Kennessaw State holds the individual lead at 6-under par 66.

Junior Bryce Hendrix (Greenville, N.C./D.H. Conley) led the way with an even-par 72 in the first round. Hendrix is tied for 16th overall after posting four birdies, two bogeys, a double bogey and 11 par scores. Senior Josh Stockwell (Aberdeen, N.C./Southern Pines) sits in 22nd place overall with a 1-over par 73 in round one. Stockwell posted a team-high 13 par scores and highlighted his day with an eagle-2 on the par-4 hole No. 9.

Sophomore Jonathan Brightwell (Charlotte, N.C./Independence) and freshman Nick Lyerly (Salisbury, N.C./East Rowan) are tied for 31st overall at 2-over par 74. Brightwell posted five birdies on the round while Lyerly had four birdies and eight par scores. Senior Joseph Cansler (Clemmons, N.C./Surry CC) rounded out the lineup in 64th place with a 5-over par 77.
