Track Sweeps the Distance Medley Relays at JDL College Dual Meet Madness
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – UNCG men’s and women’s indoor track teams swept the distance medley relays at the JDL College Dual Meet Madness on Sunday at the JDL FastTrack. The all-freshman squad of Lefler McManus, Kassidy Dill (Milford, Maine/Orono), Ariana Garcia (Beulaville, N.C./East Duplin) and Josie McGee (Apex, N.C./Apex) won on the women’s side while Alex Roy (Clayton, N.C./Clayton), William Sandin (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton), Trelek Jones (Lynchburg, Va./Wake Forest) and Timothy O’Neil (Garner, N.C.) earned the first-place finish on the men’s side.
“It was a great effort today by all of our athletes,” said head coach Chad Pearson. “This was a great tune-up for our next couple weekends of racing.”
Several women set collegiate personal records in their respective events. In the 800-meter Holly Mordoff (Silver Spring, Md./Clarksburg) and Dill did so in the 800-meter. McManus accomplished the feat in the mile-run. Smith garnered the mark in the 3,000-meter while Taylor Delaney (Hope Mills, N.C./South View) got it in the 400-meter. In the jumping events, Antonia Smith (Benson,N.C./West Johnston) earned the feat in the long jump, and Nautica Friday (Lexington,N.C.) did it in the triple jump.
Jones was the lone section winner for the men in the mile-run.
Three men set a season-best time in their events. In the 800-meter Juan Rodriguez and Logan Sprinkle (King, N.C./West Stokes) ran their top marks, and Jeffrey Beane (Asheboro, N.C./Asheboro) did it in the 200-meter.
UNCG will compete in two different meets next weekend, the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational in Lynchburg, Virginia and the Camel City Invitational at JDL FastTrack. Both meets will have events on Friday and Saturday.
