Men's Tennis Closes out ITA Regionals in Durham
DURHAM, N.C. – Two Spartans were scheduled to compete on the final day of the ITA Regionals Sunday afternoon, hosted by Duke University. Marcus Vidgren (Stockholm, Sweden/Stockholm Idrotts Gymnasium) and Daniel Hammarstedt (Stockholm, Sweden/Ava Gymnasium) won their matches yesterday and earned the right to compete Sunday in singles back draws.
Vidgren took the court against UNCW’s Josh Hublitz. The Spartan fought hard, taking it to three sets, but ultimately falling, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (12). Hammarstedt had advanced to take on Shamael Chaudhry of Davidson, but Chaudhry was unable to compete, giving Hammarstedt the victory
Men’s tennis continues its fall schedule at home next weekend as it competes in the Spartan Fall invitational.
